The boys' team of Brandon Ong, Eugene Yeo, Xavier Teo and Jomond Chia also came from behind to clinch the boys' title on Tuesday with 5, pinfalls after finishing third in the first block on Monday. Amabel and Brandon also won the girls' and boys' all-events title respectively after their performance throughout the April event. More than 6, spectators were treated to a visual spectacle which showcased the exuberance of youth and multi-cultural diversoty of Asia during the 1st Asian Youth Games opening ceremony on Monday. The opening ceremony show segment was a sight to behold with three exciting mass displays titled "Garden in the City", "Asia's Zest" and "Spirit of Evolution" unfold at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. Representatives from the Olympic Council of Asia and the Singapore National Olympic Council were also present to witness the memorable event.
The Games also provided Singapore with an opportunity to test organisational and logistical capabilities in advance of the YOG. The flame lighting ceremony was held on June 28 at the Kallang Waterfront. The flame is then carried across the island in buses to arrive at the start of the three routes, named after the Olympic values of Friendship, Excellence and Respect. A total of 70 torchbearers were involved in day one of the relay.
